PAN U

PAN Works is working hard to build out educational and professional development activities for our fellows and the public. This is part of our long-term strategy to enhance the ethical capacities of individuals, organizations, and communities. We call this effort PAN University or PAN U.

We have an active and growing community of fellows aligned with our mission of ethics, science, and policy for animal well-being. See the drop-down menu under ‘Our Work > PAN U’ for specifics.

Fellows participate in our Salon book club and the Praxis Seminars for intellectual and professional development. They also write popular essays on ethics-related topics for our Medium column and other publications. As part of this, Fellows receive peer coaching from our Writing Mentors, as well as help in placing themselves in positions of authority to do right by animals.

For the wider public, our fellows have significant experience teaching in formal (K-12 and higher education) or informal (e.g., field, museum) spaces. Many of us teach courses in and conduct research on animal-related issues at colleges and universities. Some of these institutions allow for non-traditional students and lifelong learners to join these classes. Please understand that this is governed by the home institution’s own rules, and PAN Works has no control or say in that.

Our PAN Thinks podcast is an excellent platform to deepen one’s theoretical and practical knowledge about animals. The podcast features the expertise of our fellows and guests as they share their ethical, scientific, and policy insights.

We are also building out field courses and short courses over time.
